The Amazon Firestick is the most popular IPTV device in the United States for one reason: a $30 stick turns any TV into a 4K streaming box that runs every major IPTV player. This guide takes you from a brand-new Firestick to a working 24-hour free trial in about five minutes, with no credit card and no technical skills.

Before you start: request your free trial

Do this first, because the trial email takes one to three minutes to arrive and the app install takes about the same. Open the IPTVLOAD free trial form, enter your name and a real email address, choose Fire TV Stick as your device and IPTV Smarters Pro (or TiviMate) as the app. You can leave the MAC address field blank; neither of those apps needs it. Submit and keep the email open on your phone.

The email will contain three things: a username, a password and a server URL that looks like http://example-server.com:8080. That trio is an Xtream Codes login, and it is all you need.

Step 1: Allow apps from unknown sources

IPTV players are not in the Amazon Appstore, so you install them by “sideloading”. Amazon hides this switch behind Developer Options.

1. From the Firestick home screen go to Settings (the gear icon) › My Fire TV.
2. If you see Developer Options, open it. If you do not, select About, highlight your Firestick's name and press the select button seven times. A message confirms you are now a developer, and Developer Options appears.
3. Open Developer Options › Install unknown apps. Leave this screen open; you will turn on Downloader here in a moment.

Step 2: Install Downloader

1. Go back to the home screen, select the search (magnifying glass) icon and type Downloader.
2. Choose the orange Downloader app by AFTVnews and select Get or Download.
3. Return to Settings › My Fire TV › Developer Options › Install unknown apps and switch Downloader to ON.

Downloader is a tiny browser that can fetch an app file (APK) from a web address and install it. You will use it once and may never open it again.

Step 3: Install IPTV Smarters Pro or TiviMate

Both are excellent. IPTV Smarters Pro is the simplest and works on every device you own, so it is our pick for a first trial. TiviMate is the best-looking player on Firestick with a true cable-style guide, but its premium features are a small paid add-on. You can install both and compare.

1. Open Downloader. Allow the permissions it asks for on first launch.

1. Open TiviMate and choose Add playlist › Xtream Codes login.
2. Enter the server URL, username and password from the email, then select Next.
3. Give the playlist a name and let TiviMate download channels and the EPG. This can take a minute for a large lineup.
4. Press Done. The guide opens with your channels down the left and the schedule across the screen.

Step 5: What to test in your 24 hours

You now have a full day to decide whether this replaces your cable box. Use it well:

• Search for your top five channels. In Smarters, use the search icon at the top; in TiviMate, press the search button on the remote. Confirm each one plays, not just that it is listed.
• Watch during prime time (7–11 pm). Peak hours are when weak services fall apart.

Not enough storage

Firestick Lite and older models have very little space. Uninstall apps you do not use from Settings › Applications, and delete the APK file inside Downloader after installing.

Audio but no video, or a green screen

In IPTV Smarters Pro, open Settings › Player Settings and switch the decoder from hardware to software (or the reverse). In TiviMate, change the decoder under Settings › Playback. That fixes most Firestick video glitches.
